Vicenza, led by Fabio Gallo, secured a resounding 5-0 victory over Lumezzane, immediately gaining an advantage over Brescia and Cittadella (who were held to a draw by Virtus Verona). Equally impressive was Mimmo Toscano`s Catania, which easily dispatched Foggia with a 6-0 win, against a team still in its early stages of development.
Renate`s Upset Victory
In Group A, Renate also achieved an away victory in Crema, and Pro Vercelli triumphed on Pro Patria`s home ground. In Group C, Atalanta U23 suffered a defeat in their first central-southern away game against Latina. Mazzocchi`s 2-2 draw earned Cosenza a point against Monopoli, while a last-minute goal from substitute Caturano secured an away win for Potenza against Giugliano. These matches already saw the implementation of an additional amendment to the FVS protocol, made necessary after the controversial incident in Carpi-Juve Next Gen: coaches can no longer strategically appeal for a review invoking an intervention against their own team.
