Brazilian defender Marlon, who previously played in Serie A for Monza and Sassuolo, is set to return to Ukraine. Born in 1995, he will turn 30 in September and still has a significant part of his career ahead. According to Fabrizio Romano, his return to Shakhtar Donetsk, the club that introduced him to major European football, is now a done deal.
Marlon originally joined Shakhtar in 2021 from Sassuolo. At the Italian club, he stood out for his consistency and performance, prompting the Ukrainian side to invest €12 million in him. However, his career path outside Italy didn`t yield the desired results, leading Shakhtar to loan him out multiple times.
Both Monza and Fluminense utilized his services without significant success, sending the defender back. His most recent stints were with Al-Ain in the UAE and Los Angeles FC in the United States. These periods also saw less than stellar results, so the prospect of returning to Ukraine could offer him a chance to revitalize his career.
