For the first time as professionals, Cristian and Stiven both scored in the same Serie B matchday. With their goals, Cesena and Empoli immediately climbed to the top.
On social media, discretion always prevails: profiles are open but kept low, as if nothing special has happened. However, within the Shpendi family home, the atmosphere was likely different. Last weekend, parents Alex and Arta celebrated a truly unprecedented event: both their sons scoring in the same league matchday. Since turning professional, it had never happened that the twins Cristian and Stiven Shpendi found the net simultaneously.
From Youth Leagues to Professional Stardom
This was a pleasant routine during their time in Cesena`s Primavera (youth academy), where they frequently tormented opposing defenses. However, it had never occurred in the senior professional ranks until the recent back-and-forth last weekend. Cristian, the Cesena striker, scored the decisive goal against Pescara, while his twin, Stiven, opened Empoli`s victory against Padova. Both matches ended 3-1, sending a clear message to the newly promoted teams.
Professional Encounters
After separating two years ago, Cristian and Stiven found themselves as opponents in the previous season, one at Cesena and the other at Carrarese. By a double twist of fate, they never actually faced each other: Stiven had not yet been registered for the first match of the first half of the season, and Cristian was injured for the first match of the second half. Nevertheless, both managed to score against their brother`s team: Cristian twice against Carrarese, and Stiven once against Cesena. It was precisely when Cristian, the Cesena player, hit a scoring lull (10 goals in the first 15 league matches last season) that his twin broke his own scoring drought, netting his first Serie B goal on matchday 16. This year, however, it took them less than a day to deliver a perfect weekend for the entire Shpendi family.
