Preview Totti: “Roma’s Objective Must Be the Champions League. Gasperini? We Wait, We Wait”

Francesco Totti retired from playing football several years ago, but his opinion on AS Roma is always highly valued and considered. Speaking at the Illumia Padel Cup, the legendary former captain commented on Gian Piero Gasperini, stating:

“We wait, we wait. I hope that next year will be truly important for the Giallorossi. The basic objective must surely be a return to Champions League qualification, but this will be a path built game after game.”

This goal will need to be pursued with Claudio Ranieri in a directorial role. The former coach helped the Capitoline club climb the table and secure Europa League qualification, which was by no means guaranteed after a very difficult start to the season. Totti praised Ranieri`s commitment:

“He has always admitted to being the first Roma fan, so his decision to decline the national team position to stay at Trigoria must be respected. Because of this, we Giallorossi fans are even happier, as we have the assurance of a great person guiding the club.”

Meanwhile, while playing padel, Totti shared the court with Vincent Candela, stirring some nostalgia among fans. Totti remarked on their connection:

“Vincent and I play together often, including in other tournaments. We are friends off the field and because of this, we have a great understanding. But Daniele De Rossi and Bruno Conti are also here, so it feels even more like home.”
