Speaking at the press conference announcing the European Super Cup final, scheduled to take place in Udine on August 13th, Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo shared his thoughts: “For us, this is a tremendously important event. I sincerely thank President Gravina for everything he has done. Bringing an occasion like this to Udine is truly a nearly unique opportunity. It`s an event that will showcase our territory to the world, beyond just the footballing aspect. We absolutely need this, and our President Fedriga has been highly supportive of this initiative. He is the only local politician who has actively promoted our region, and that is significantly important.
“We come from what was effectively behind the Iron Curtain; everything was closed off. This was a border zone, unlike regions such as Liguria with its coastline, which facilitated tourism promotion and development. We were isolated, and we didn`t deserve that; we are a beautiful area that deserves to be known. I am thankful that we Friulians and Giulians are given this chance. We will dedicate ourselves to helping maximize the success of this event. Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart.”
It is confirmed that Udine has been officially designated as the host city for the 2025 UEFA European Super Cup, one of the world`s most prestigious club football matches. The game will feature the winners of the Champions League, Paris Saint Germain, and the Europa League, Tottenham, on August 13th at the Bluenergy Stadium. This will mark the first time this highly anticipated fixture is held in Italy.
