Renzo Ulivieri, president of Assoallenatori (the Italian Football Managers` Association), spoke on Radio Marte about the situation at Napoli, focusing particularly on Antonio Conte remaining as head coach. He stated: “It is a signal of an important project by the Partenopean club that could initiate a long-term cycle. Conte`s continued presence also has a significant technical aspect that becomes important from an economic perspective: I believe it signifies long-range planning aimed at keeping Napoli among Europe`s top teams for a considerable period.”
Ulivieri continued by reflecting on the previous season: “Last year was challenging, with several coaching changes, but the club has since resolved its technical issues and is also administratively very strong. The Under 21 team has demonstrated that we have Italian talents, as shown by both the men`s and women`s youth national teams.”
Ulivieri also commented on the recent European Championship for the U21 category, where the young Azzurri were eliminated in the quarter-finals: “The loss against Germany was unfair. The base of talent is there. There have been performances by the senior national team where it was clearly evident that the players lacked that joy in playing. The Under 21, however, showed this joy, and I believe this emotion and passion can be reignited within the senior national team.”
