The Nigerian striker was absent for pre-season medicals, reportedly aiming for a move to Galatasaray, even as French media highlight ongoing interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Napoli`s 2025-26 season officially commenced today, with the squad gathering at the training center for routine medical examinations before beginning their pre-season retreat. However, the notable absence of Victor Osimhen has drawn significant attention. The club briefly addressed the situation in a statement: “Victor Osimhen is absent, having sent a medical certificate.” This situation appears to prolong a “cold war” between the talented striker and President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who insists on receiving the full €75 million release clause for his departure.

Galatasaray and… PSG
Negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray for Osimhen`s potential return to Istanbul are ongoing, with both parties reportedly nearing an agreement. Nevertheless, French sports newspaper L`Equipe has reignited reports of Paris Saint-Germain`s interest in the Napoli forward. It was Luis Campos, now an advisor to Al-Khelaifi, who initially brought Osimhen to Ligue 1 during his tenure as sporting director at Lille. Given their strong existing relationship, a future reunion is not out of the question. Currently, however, the Turkish club holds a clear advantage. Meanwhile, Osimhen awaits, officially listed as “unwell.”
