Constatato il genuino interesse del Napoli, incaricò William D’Avila di gestire il suo trasferimento. He revealed to the Guardia di Finanza (Italian financial police) that his previous agent, Jean Gerard, had informed him of strong interest from Napoli. However, Osimhen emphasized that the agent was solely focused on the transfer, disregarding his father`s critical health condition. During that period, the footballer couldn`t concentrate on football, concerned only about his parent. Gerard summoned him to Nice for a meeting, where Luis Campos and Lille`s president, Gerard Lopez, were also present. He was informed that he would have to transfer to Napoli, with a preliminary agreement already reached, presented as a favorable opportunity for Lille due to the pandemic. However, Osimhen stated he was unaware of any of these arrangements.
Concurrently with these events, Osimhen`s father tragically passed away. The footballer expressed deep anger towards Lille and his agent, as he had not been allowed to see his father before his death. He was even told to leave for Napoli the very next day, without being given time to process his grief. Despite his sorrow, out of respect for Lille`s president, he traveled to Naples, intending not to sign any agreement. There, he met the coach, who explained the sporting project, and the following day, De Laurentiis in Capri. The latter spoke to him about the city and the club, but Osimhen, accompanied by Giuntoli, struggled to understand, as the conversation was conducted in Italian.
