As Juventus-Inter approaches, Edon Zhegrova will have been sidelined for 273 days – nearly nine full months without playing, marking the longest injury spell of his career. He has watched 27 matches from the stands since December 14, 2024. This extensive layoff was due to a pubalgia injury, which required surgery in late January, initiating a prolonged recovery journey. By mid-March, the Kosovan player had resumed individual training on the pitch, but a relapse and Lille`s cautious approach further delayed his comeback. Throughout the summer, he continued training but remained off the field, missing all four friendly matches in July and August, as well as the first Ligue 1 game against Brest. Though not called up for the first match, he was on the bench for the second, on August 24, signaling the end of a long and challenging period.

When will the real Edon be back?

So, what`s Zhegrova`s situation upon arriving at Juventus? He`s recovered but will need careful management. The good news for coach Tudor is that Zhegrova will be at Continassa for the entire international break, allowing him to immediately begin a personalized training program with the medical and athletic staff. With just ten days until the next, crucial league match at the Allianz against Inter, the new number 11 will also train with other non-international players remaining in Turin, gradually integrating into the Juve environment and Tudor`s tactical system. However, caution is paramount for a player who hasn`t played in nine months. For context, Bremer, who suffered a different injury but was sidelined for over 300 days, required 22 days and participation in three out of four friendlies with increasing minutes before playing a full official match. Therefore, Juventus fans will initially have to be content with Edon being introduced in small doses, but with the certainty that the wait will be worthwhile when he can perform at 100% in the league and Champions League, competing with Conceiçao for a starting spot.
