Dr. Enrico Castellacci, a distinguished sports physician, orthopedist, and traumatologist with 14 years of experience as the medical head of the Italian national team, has joined the coaching staff of Fabio Cannavaro. Cannavaro, the former World Cup-winning defender, has been serving as the head coach of Uzbekistan since last October.

This move sees Cannavaro welcome another key figure from Italy's 2006 World Cup triumph into his team, which is predominantly composed of Italian professionals. His current staff includes his brother Paolo Cannavaro and Francesco Troise as assistants, Antonio Chimenti as the goalkeeping coach, and Eugenio Albarella as the athletic trainer.

Regarding the upcoming World Cup, Uzbekistan has been drawn into Group K. Their opponents in this group are Colombia, Portugal, and the team that emerges victorious from the inter-zone playoff featuring Jamaica, New Caledonia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
