During the national team's training camp, Niccolò Pisilli gave an extensive interview. Below are the words of the Roma midfielder.

What memories do you have of Italy's World Cups?

"I remember the World Cups I've watched, which are those of 2010 and 2014. It's a great emotion and a source of pride for me to be back with the national team."

How strong is the team right now?

"We are a very strong group; in my role, everyone here is truly strong, otherwise, they wouldn't be here."

Which players did you watch before joining the national team who are now here?

"I think of Barella, and Tonali when he broke through with Milan. I always watched them on TV; for me, it's a great opportunity now to learn from them."

And non-Italian players?

"It's difficult to name a specific one now; I've always really liked players who touch the ball a lot."

What has changed since the beginning of the year when you played less for Roma?

"Nothing, I think when a coach changes, it's normal that it takes a bit more time to grasp the new coach's ideas. Throughout the season, it's important to be ready when called upon. I'm happy to be getting more minutes and I hope to continue this way."

Playing further forward or further back makes little difference for Gasperini. What about you?

"It makes even less difference for me; every time I step onto the field, I try to give my best and execute the coach's requests. It doesn't matter whether I'm playing further forward or further back."

Those who have trained with Gasperini say they've never worked so hard.

"There's a lot of running, but these are all things that benefit you on the field. In the moment, you struggle, but you do it for yourself and to be more effective on the pitch."

Can you bring your approach from Roma to the national team?

"Certainly, you improve many aspects like aggression, duels. Every coach has their ideas; I will try my best to adopt Gattuso's."

Do you approach the national team with recklessness or greater dedication?

"There must be a balance. We need to have the serenity of someone who knows that with 100% commitment, they can achieve their goal, but also the awareness of someone who knows they are playing for something important."

Would you sign up for going to the World Cup and Roma qualifying for the Champions League?

"Yes, I would sign for that."

Do you intend to become a journalist afterward?

"I don't know, it's possible. I still have many years to figure out what I want to do next."
